６．雍 也 ようや
ことば-------------------------------------------------------------
力足らざる者は、中道にして廃す。いまなんじは画（かぎ）れり」（12）
「質、文に勝てば野。文、質に勝てば史。文質彬彬（びんびん）として然る
後に君子」（18）
「人の生くるや直し。これなくして生くるは、幸いにして免るるなり（19）
「これを知る者はこれを好む者にしかず。これを好む者はこれを楽しむ者に
しかず」（20）
「知者は水を楽しみ、仁者は山を楽しむ」（23）

３０ 子貢(しこう)が尋ねた、
「もし人々に施して豊かにし、多くの災難から民衆を救えたとしたらどうで
しょう、仁者といえますか?」
孔子は、「それは仁者どころの話では無い。それは聖人の領域だ。古代の聖
帝である尭・舜(ぎょう・しゅん)もその事に苦労された程だ。仁者というの
は、自らが立ちたいと思えば他人を先に立たせ、自らが行きたいと思えば他
人を先に行かせる。常に他者を自分の様に考える。それが仁者の考え方とい
うものだ。」と言った。
子貢曰、如能博施於民、而能濟衆者、何如、可謂仁乎、子曰、何事於仁、必
也聖乎、尭舜其猶病諸、夫仁者己欲立而立人、己欲逹而逹人、能近取譬、可
謂仁之方也已。
Zi Gong asked, "If someone could make all people wealthy and save
them from disasters, can we call him a benevolent person?" Confucius
replied, "That is beyond the benevolent. He must be a sage. Even Yao
and Shun struggled to do that. A benevolent person should make others
stand, if he want to stand. And he should make others go, if he want
to go. A benevolent person always considers others as himself. This
is the way of a benevolent person."
